1997 Shizuoka Workshop on
Masses and Mixings of Quarks and Leptons
University of Shizuoka
March 19-21, 1997
First Circular
The 1997 Shizuoka Workshop on Masses and Mixings of Quarks and Leptons (MMQL97) will be held at University of Shizuoka on March 19-21, 1997. The purpose of the Workshop is to have intensive discussions on the masses and mixings of quarks and leptons.
The first workshop at Shizuoka was held on December, 1988, sponsored by University of Shizuoka. The subject was "Inquiring for the Origin of Families".
The second Shizuoka Workshop was held on December, 1990, and the subject was
"Quark and Lepton Spectroscopy".
The third workshop was sponsored by INS, the University of Tokyo, and was held
at INS on December, 1992.
The subject was "Quark and Lepton Mass Matrices".
The purpose of those workshops was to give a clue to a unified understanding
of quarks and leptons by investigating their masses and mixings.
The participants included not only theorists but also experimentalists.
The 1997 Workshop will be held along the similar line.
The Workshop will be sponsored by University of Shizuoka.
For the speakers and young participants, a part of their travel expenses
and hotel charges will be supported by the University.

You will be able to find a wonderful landscape of
Mt.Fuji at
the workshop site.
Shizuoka is located at the middle point between Tokyo and Nagoya (it takes
one hour by Super Express Train "Shinkan-sen").
Those who are interested in participating in the Workshop are asked
to fill out the attached Questionnaire and send it to Y.~Koide,
by November 30, 1996.
5. Pre-Proceedings and Proceedings
The Workshop will be held on March which is the end of the
fiscal year in Japan.
Therefore, in order to get the financial support by the Shizuoka
Prefectural Government, we must beforehand provide a "pre-proceedings"
of the Workshop.
Please mind that speakers (and participants who want to contribute
to the Workshop) prepare their one- or two-page abstract by
December 24, 1996.
However, the pre-proceedings will not be published.
Instead, we plan the publication of the proceedings of the Workshop.
The speakers will be requested to contribute the manuscripts of their
talks to the proceedings.
The participants will receive a free copy of the proceedings.
The second circular will be sent in December 1996.
It will include the scientific program, further information on the
workshop site, hotel, transportation, and so on.
